HP Colorado 4/8GB IDE Redhat 6.1 2.2.17

Hi
I have installed the above mentioned drive. I can backup and restore using dump and Restore programs.
Only problem is that compression does not seem to be enabled. Will only backup 4GB.
dmesg gives no indication on whether it is enabled or not

Anyone got any ideas on this.

I do not believe that the 4/8GB IDE has hardware compresion at all. Compression then needs to come from the software. tar and cpio do not do software compression (as far as I know)
