No hpilo device on DL185 G5 running RH 5.3

I've installed PSP 8.20 on a DL185 G5 running RedHat Enterprise Linux Sever 5.3. Even though the hpilo kernel module is loaded there are no signs of a hpilo device. The lspci doesn't show any iLO devices and /dev/hpilo doesn't get created. But I can still access iLO through the Web and telnet interfaces. Anybody have any ideas?

Shalom,

1) Look at the back and see if there is a network port marked ilo. Some systems don't have one. If there is one:

2) Boot at console, there will be a prompt to permit configuration of the ilo device with a network ip address.

PSPs and their deployment utilities are supported on ProLiant ML/DL 300, 500, 700 and BL servers.

The DL185 G5 has a Lights-Out 100, not the same thing as iLO or iLO2 (Integrated Lights Out) that come in the 300 series and up systems

Yes, there is a iLO hardware device. As I said, I can access it through the Web and telnet interfaces, so it obviously has an IP number assigned and it is functional.

The problem is that the Linux kernel doesn't seem to find it. None expected devices under /dev are created. When I try to start hp-snmp-agents, the hpasmpld component fails because it can't find an iLO device. Also the SMH (System Management Homepage) doesn't display any system information (for example, the "Overall Status Summary" says "No Items")

Oh, that would explain it. Thanks, Jimmy.
