Red Hat Linux 8.0 hangs on DL380

I've successfully installed RH linux 8.0 on DL380. But after some time, it goes down and nothing is displayed on console also. The option I'd left is to hard boot the server.
There are no significant msgs in /var/log/messages.

Version :

Linux version 2.4.18-24.8.0smp (bhcompile@tweety.devel.redhat.com) (gcc version3.2 20020903 (Red Hat Linux 8.0 3.2-7)) #1 SMP Fri Jan 31 06:03:47 EST 2003

Can you let me know what can be the problem

Problems with NIC driver?

Anyway I suggest you to install RHEL 3.0 instead of old&unsupported RHL8.0

Re: Red Hat Linux 8.0 hangs on DL380

Can you guide me where I can see supported OS and unsupported OS.

In this case, It is unlikely to wait for RHEL 3.0. Is there any way out ?

1) certification matrix
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/hpLinuxcert.html

2) RHEL3.0 was >1 year ago, RHEL4 will be released in a 3-4 month.

Re: Red Hat Linux 8.0 hangs on DL380

if you speak about DL380 *G3*, it may be a problematic driver for Broadcom NIC.

what is your "lsmod" output? If you use bcm5700 driver, try to install the latest RHL8.0 kernel and use tg3 module - just replace bcm5700 to tg3 in modules.conf.

Hi

On DL380-G3 the problem mostly lies on the Broadcom NIC, try and update the driver after installing edit the modules.conf
