Suse Linux, Netscape and ICA Client 8

I have loaded the ICA Client for and when attempting to lauch my applications [via Netscape] the ICA Splash screen pops up and then nothing happens?

Any insight?

I have added the plugin to Firefox and get the same results.

Any help appreciated.

Re: Suse Linux, Netscape and ICA Client 8

I know nothing about ICA so this may be meaningless, but one of the typical problems with some of the wweb-based apps is lack of built-in Java support on many platforms. I am not sure what Suse brings to the table, but with some distros you must go and obtain your own Java for Linux, and the plugin that goes with it. You can check if you have the Java plugin installed by going to the url about:plugins in your browser window.

I would also forget about using Netscape and use either Firefox or Mozilla. Opera and Konqueror 'might' work as well.

Finally, you may find that ICA is one of those web-based apps that has implicit (but not declared) dependencies on something in MS Windows.

Re: Suse Linux, Netscape and ICA Client 8

when you say ICA client, I get the impression you are referring to the Citrix web client, right?
What version are you running?

I've got the citrix web client for linux working perfectly. It's best to use their newest version. The Java client on linux still doesn't work very well....on Windows it works great!

Visit the citrix support site and read up on it, it's not that hard to setup.

Re: Suse Linux, Netscape and ICA Client 8

I am running the newest Linux Client from Citrix, version 8.

I have tested the plugin on both Netscape and Firefox and get the same result. Any help appreciated.

I am at a loss.
Thanks,

Re: Suse Linux, Netscape and ICA Client 8

did you read the documentation?
You have to configure it as a helper application, then save those settings. from then on, it works automatically.

I've never had a problem with it....just read the docs!

Mozilla or Firefox work fine, which browser you're using doesn't really matter to the citrix client.

Re: Suse Linux, Netscape and ICA Client 8

I re-loaded my OS.
I downloaded version 8 of the ICA Client from Citrix.
I installed version 8 and all worked well.

I didn't so anything different this time, versus the initial load. I am assuming the installation of the OS must have had some quirks the first time around.

Thanks for the help.
