webmin: there are too many zones on your system to display here

hi

I have debian sarge with BIND 9.
if I connect via webmin to the DNS Server,
then I get following message:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Existing DNS Zones
There are too many zones on your system to display here.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

knows someone howto configure the webmin to get
all zones displayed on one window ?

I have webmin Version 1.180

kind regards
chris

Re: webmin: there are too many zones on your system to display here

I would suggest the 1.2.x version of webmin. Webmin has a gui tool that lets up use it to upgrade itself.

Beyond that, if its still too many zones, you may need to manage your zones the old fashioned way, on the command line.

Its really not very hard, the zones are in /var/named or /var/named/chroot/var/named and the /etc/named.conf file refers to them.

In the DNS window (depending on your theme) click on Module Config. There you will find
"Maximum number of zones to display". I think you can go up to 250. I have mine set to 50 because I only have 40 or so zones.

Chris,

It should be there, usually in the upper left corner of the window depending on the theme by Webmin Index link. From the main Webmin window, click Servers, then Bind DNS Server.

Are you logging in as Root? It it possible to filter access to parts of modules in Webmin via the Webmin Users control.

Re: webmin: there are too many zones on your system to display here

Yes I'm logging in as Root,
but it doesn't work with Version 1.180

I don't have any option
"Maximum number of zones to display" in the Version 1.180

Re: webmin: there are too many zones on your system to display here

I solved this problem

I did a webmin update to the Version 1.230 over
Webmin Configuration / Upgrade Webmin
and it works now.
