Can not connect to virtual hostname share windows 2008
I'm installing SAP CRM on a Windows 2008 server.
I setup up a separate virtual name and ip address for SAP.
Did the same steps as on a Windows 2003 server - which works there.
This works:
\\sapsbx056\sapmnt
This doesn't:
\\vsrasm01\sapmnt
It prompts for userid and password.
Going to the ip address works.
vsrasm01 is a DNS A record (NOT CNAME).
The 2 registry changes added:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters
OptionalNames REG_MULTI_SZ vsrasm01
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0
BackConnectionsHostNames REG_MULTI_SZ vsrasm01
Any ideas?

Re: Can not connect to virtual hostname share windows 2008
Hi:
So, vsrasm01 is a DNS Alias for the SAP IP?
Make a great day!

Re: Can not connect to virtual hostname share windows 2008
Not an alias - it's an A record.
Work around is:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa]
"DisableLoopbackCheck"=dword:00000001
Course, that open up a SMB security vulnerability....
