ESX Fails to boot after update to 8.0.3
We have 6x DL360 Hosts with Alletra 6000 storage.
Every attempt to update to 8..0.3 fails whether performed by the dHCI update process or manually.
Host reboots showing Version 8.0.3 in the console but the boot never completes.
Its stalls at a screen showing :-
hpp loaded succesfully
activating: restore-paths
From there, the host is locked up until reset from the ILO console.
The host will reboot OK the next time but any updates have been rolled back and we are stuck at version 8.0.2
Any ideas ?
Thanks,
Andy

Re: ESX Fails to boot after update to 8.0.3
Hello Andy,
How was the manual patching performed ?
Pls follow below steps
To list the available Image Profiles for an ESXi patch
esxcli software sources profile list -d /vmfs/volumes/datastorename/VMware-ESXi-8.0U3-24022510-depot.zip
Output will be the profile name
To install/update a specific Image Profile, run the following command with the Image Profile name:
esxcli software profile update -d /vmfs/volumesdatastorename/VMware-ESXi-8.0U3-24022510-depot.zip
-p ESXi-8.0U3-24022510-standard

Re: ESX Fails to boot after update to 8.0.3
@Rajaram02 To say "manual" is perhaps overstating - I meany by using VMware baselines in VCenter to identify and install updates rather than using the DHCI Plugin 'one click update' option.
I have an open case currently (been open since 4th July) so woulkd rather take guidance on that ticket than "go rogue" for now but will refer back to this if I continue to get no progress with the ticket.
Thanks,
Andy

Re: ESX Fails to boot after update to 8.0.3
HPE Alletra dHCI provide one click patching or update.
If the one click fails and revert to original esxi version
We may need to check the logs and isolate the issue.
This will be performed on the ticket .
