ESXi vsphere 4.0 and HP DL360 install errors

Hi All,
Trying to install ESXi v4 on HP DL360G5 to local SAS HDD on p400 RAID 1+0 array and get an error : Unable to write to HDD " fatal error"
I see lots of people have the issue on other forums but nothing ever specific resolves it?

have you tried installing on to a single disk rather than a RAID set?
