genie-soft & memorex cd rw 52X24X52 Help!
purchased memorex cd rw 52X24X52X and was told by the "potholes" at (jan 2003 issue) smart computing that a really good program to backup my files to a cd rw was genie-soft. the memorex comes with nero 5 and incd(whatever the hell that is). to make a long story short when i try to do a backup the genie program says it works best with something called "easy writer" and that the blank memorex cd rw disc has to be "pre" formatted before it will take the backup. what i did was try to use what i had and it looked good until i went to check the cdrw disc and there was nothing on it. why in the hell do i have to buy another $70 program to make this cdrw crap work? by the time i am done the cdrw with discs and additional programs will cost more than the **bleep** computer. do i have to be bill gates in order to back up my puny little computer (w98se). am i doing something complicated here-am i trying to break the german enigma codes or something. all i know is that this was the wrong week to give up meth.
P.S. This thread has been moved from Disk to Optical Jukeboxes & Drives. -HP Forum Moderator

Re: genie-soft & memorex cd rw 52X24X52 Help!
What model of CD burner do you have? Some only take high speed media and some only take lo speed media, which do you have? (Both burner and media)
You always need to format a CD before it can be used, just like a floppy (several different formats for CD's: data, audio, etc.). Some burners will format on the fly as they copy. Some won't.
