SureStore 5200ex and rebooting Win2K

We have recently upgraded a Dell server from Win NT 4 to Win2K. The imaging software application remains the same and is compatible with Win2K. Two 5200ex are connected to this box. Before rebooting the server the optical platters have to be ejected from the drives. If they aren't removed, Win2K will permanently hang in the boot process. We then have to power off the server, eject the platters and then power up the server to successfully reboot. This behavior was not present with NT. Any ideas?

Ralph,
did you apply latest Service Pack? Also check drives with HP LTT ( http://www.hp.com/cposupport/information_storage/support_doc/lpg50128.html ) to see if it will find anything wrong

Chek in the server Bios for the priority boot, this can be the cause, if the optical disk are connected to a HBA which have higher priority, the system will try to boot form and then hang.

Re: SureStore 5200ex and rebooting Win2K

The problem is now solved. The server had Win2K SP2 installed as the imaging application was incompatible with SP3. The day after my post the vendor released an update compatible with SP3. Installing the update and SP3 now eliminates the boot-up problem with the 5200ex. Thanks to everyone who replied.
