Fingerprint Sign On

This is the third time this has happened, the fingerprint reader is not lighting up to read my fingerprint. The first two time I called and the tech walked me thru a process that reset the reader: It was very complex and I can never remember it. If someone can tell me how to do it, I will print it and keep it for the future.

What model HP laptop do you have? What Windows version?
