2-Host Local Datastore VME

Hello,

I have two DL380 Gen10 servers with internal storage. That is, one volume for the operating system and another for provisioning.

Is it possible to present both volumes for provisioning as local directories? If so, what is required?

Do both datastores need to have the same name in the path? Or can they have different names and then be added to the cluster?

I don't have a third host or external storage to provision and share.

You may already have the root volume available, if you see the local Data Store on your cluster, this is automatically created on each host.  You can see the Data Stores by navigating to:

Infrastructure > Clusters > click your cluster hyperlink > Storage tab > Data Stores sub tab

For example, this is what local would look like and it is mapped to /var/morpheus/kvm/local:

If you wish to add additional directorties, either from the same volume or others, be sure to create the same directory structure on each host.  Once created, you can choose Add from the Data Stores tab and add a Directory Pool:

Enter the directories created previously the datastore will be created and virtual disks will be placed there when choosing the Data Store.
