490 - System Health Error
Hi,
I work with a Proliant DL20 Gen10 Server. Recently we had a power issue on our facility that cause the server to go off without proper shutdown. On rebooting the server I got the POST message ; 490-System Health Error. A critical system health error requires the system to be shut down. When press F9 to go to Utilities and view the IML the server just shuts down. I can't view the log. I can't go past POST. Please how do I deal with this.

Re: 490 - System Health Error
Hello,
You may try power drain and see if it helps. To power drain the server, power off the server and remove the power cable from power supplies. After removing the power cables, press and hold the power button to drain the power in the server's system board circuitry.
Regards,
I work at HPE

Re: 490 - System Health Error
God day!
Holding the power button for about 30 seconds to 1 minute during a power drain is typically sufficient to discharge any residual power from the system. If youтАЩve held it for around a minute, that should be long enough.
However, since the issue reappeared, this might indicate that the underlying hardware problem was only temporarily resolved by the power drain. ItтАЩs likely that a more persistent issue, like a failing power supply, motherboard, or another critical component, is causing the recurring error.
Let me know what t.s steps you tried so far? So, let me try to help.

Re: 490 - System Health Error
Hi @Kachidota
The "Fan Failure (Fan 1), Location System" POST error message indicates that the system has detected a problem with Fan 1. The "Location System" refers to the specific fan position within the server chassis, helping you identify which fan is malfunctioning.
