5446 - Processor Firmware Update Failure - Processor 2.

Hello!

I ran into a problem. I get warning on the HPE DL380 Gen 11 server with Intel Xeon Gold 6458Q:

5446 - Processor Firmware Update Failure - Processor 2. The processor's PUcode image failed to update to version 39000070.
Action: Update to the latest BIOS. If the problem persists, contact support.

I have already tried to update BIOS using SPP and from iLO (I have tried different versions of the BIOS, now installed latest available version 2.60), but still have this warning. I also tried to swap processors and now i got a new warning:

5445 - Newer Firmware Version - Processor 2. The processor's PUcode firmware (39000070) version is newer than the images available in the current BIOS. Action: Update to the latest BIOS.

Can you tell me how this problem can be solved? Or what exaclty is causing this error?

@bill611d Hello!

As i mentioned, the error did not move to another slot after processor swap, it remained on the Processor 2. So i dont not correctly understand what the problem is.

Hi @JohnShmukler

1. Slot-specific or board-level fault
2. Management firmware or MCTP misconfiguration

Reset MCTP and Device Inventory
Update BIOS + SPS/ME Firmware
If issue persists, replace the motherboard

A similar case on the HPE Community showed that firmware updates failed continuously until the motherboard was replaced. Please take a look at it, you might find it useful:  https://community.hpe.com/t5/proliant-servers-ml-dl-sl/firmware-installation-fails/td-p/7205570

Thanks & Regards,

Mamatha
