5446 - Processor Firmware Update Failure - Processor 2.

Hello!

I ran into a problem. I get warning on the HPE DL380 Gen 11 server with Intel Xeon Gold 6458Q:

5446 - Processor Firmware Update Failure - Processor 2. The processor's PUcode image failed to update to version 39000070.
Action: Update to the latest BIOS. If the problem persists, contact support.

I have already tried to update BIOS using SPP and from iLO (I have tried different versions of the BIOS, now installed latest available version 2.60), but still have this warning. I also tried to swap processors and now i got a new warning:

5445 - Newer Firmware Version - Processor 2. The processor's PUcode firmware (39000070) version is newer than the images available in the current BIOS. Action: Update to the latest BIOS.

Can you tell me how this problem can be solved? Or what exaclty is causing this error?

Based on your troubleshooting, the problem is a hardware fault with the physical Processor 2, not a BIOS or firmware issue. Your processor swap confirmed this, as the update failure followed the specific processor to the new slot. The HPE DL380's "Newer Firmware" warning for the other processor confirms that the BIOS is correctly attempting to apply the latest version. The definitive solution is to contact HPE Support for a warranty replacement of the faulty processor.

Re: 5446 - Processor Firmware Update Failure - Processor 2.

@bill611d Hello!

As i mentioned, the error did not move to another slot after processor swap, it remained on the Processor 2. So i dont not correctly understand what the problem is.
