64GB DIMMs unsupported in Proliant DL380 Gen 10

Hello,

we bought 64GB DIMMS (genuine HP P00930-B21) for our Proliants DL 380 Gen 10 P06421-B21 with Xeon(R) Silver 4114. Upon installation, it says they are unsupported, but in every documentation i found they should be supported.

What do i miss?

Thank you and best regards,
Hubert

Betreff: Query: 64GB DIMMs unsupported in Proliant DL380 Gen 10

Thank you for your answer.

In the spare parts list for Proliant DL380 Gen 10 (no plus) i find P/N P06192-001, which according to https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=a00019686en_us is equivalent to option P/N P00930-B21. So it should be correct.

Best regards,
Hubert

Re: 64GB DIMMs unsupported in Proliant DL380 Gen 10

Dear Rabindra,

I'm sorry, it still doesn't work

It now is able to print the error message before hanging, but nevertheless it hangs with only the 64GB DIMMs installed: "Unsupported DIMM Configuration Detected - Processor 2 DIMM 10. The identified DIMM is not supported in the system. (Major Code:000000E8, Minor Code:00000002)."

I searched a little more for this major and minor error code and found that the this type of 64GB modules are not supported with Skylake processors, see https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=a00106667en_us&docLocale=en_US

"For any HPE ProLiant Gen10 server, 16Gb-die technology DIMMs are only supported on Intel Cascade Lake processors. With Intel Cascade Lake processors, these DIMMs boot properly."

Thank you for your help and best regards,
Hubert
