BIOS/Hardware Health error
Hi,
We have a ProLiant ML350p Gen8. We suffered a power outage, when the power was restored the machine no longer boots.
The health indicator on the front of the machine is flashing red. Logging into iLO, everything in system info is fine apart from "BIOS/Hardware Health" which shows as "Failed".
Within the IML this error is displayed: "System Power Fault Detected (XR: 24 00 MID: FF FD DC FF EA FF FF 4A 4A 0C 0C 00 8A 60 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00)".
When attempting to power on it seems to stop when it tries to power up the hard drives.
Is it possible to decipher the IML error and suggest any potential methods to get the machine back up and running?
Thank you!

Re: BIOS/Hardware Health error
Normally I'd recommend opening a ticket with HPE technical support, but considering this model of server was retired in 2016 and went End of Support Life (EoSL) in 2021, that may not be an option.
I did read somewhere that this error might be resolved with a BIOS update and according to HPE support, that would be 2019.05.24(A), released on 06/28/19.
You also could try to power off the server, disconnect power from the power supplies, reseat the power supplies, let the server sit for 5 minutes, reconnect and see if it'll power up. Monitor the server during Power On Self-Test (POST) to see what, if any, additional error messages appear. Usually at POST is where you'll see hardware-related issues displayed.

Re: BIOS/Hardware Health error
Hi Scott,
Thank you very much for your reply.
We had tried the power down, reseating the power supplies method yesterday after the issue first began, unfortunately, that didn't help.
I will attempt to update the BIOS with the most recent version, we can't get the machines to get past POST, with nothing ever displayed on a monitor. iLO is our only source of comms with the server at the moment, so hopefully, I'll be able to get that done through iLO.
Thanks again for your help - it's greatly appreciated!

Re: BIOS/Hardware Health error
Hi Scott,
A quick update for you - updating the BIOS didn't help, the issue still remains, unfortunately.
We think it may be the motherboard that might have the issue. Due to the age of the machine, we will probably look to replace it a little earlier than planned.
Thank you again for your help with this.

Re: BIOS/Hardware Health error
"System Power Fault Detected (XR: 24 00 MID: FF FD DC FF EA FF FF 4A 4A 0C 0C 00 8A 60 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00)".
Had this problem on other server. Unfortunately there is no cure for it ! As one of required Voltages out to motherboard is missing or below/under spec. Replacing power supplies not an option, as some voltages are done from 12V PS line right on motherboard.
Replacing Motherboard might be a cheap repair option if we talk about old Gen8 servers... a lot used boards selling now .
