Hi,
I was not aware of compatibility issues with SSD, so I bought a new 1.92TB ssd (HPE p/n: 787178-003, Model: HSCP1920S5xnFMRI, HUSMR1619ASS205). It has firmware: 3P00
Are these compatible with the DL380P G8? I have proxmox installed and uses ubuntu 22.04 desktop. When I want to add the drive to Ubuntu, I see the drive in the shell when typing lsblk. But I can't passthrough.
Can I use it? Do I need to update the firmware first or is it not possible because these are for only the 3Par systems (storeserv)?
Thank you for the advice!
Greetings,
Sven

SolutionAs far as I know, if it is a 3PAR drive, then it will not be compatible/supported on a ProLiant. Also, from what I've seen, a 3PAR drive will not have a "standard" number of bytes per sector format (ie: 512 bytes/sector). If it is possible to reformat the drive to a standard format (which was possible with spinning rust drives from older 3PAR systems), then it might be possible to get it to work on a ProLiant, but there won't be any firmware updates available, plus I'm not sure if I'd trust my data on it...

Re: Compatible ssd
Thank you for your reply. Do not want to reformat the drive if I have no certainty it will work. It does say e520-Format on the label. If it's unusable, I will have to put it up for sale. Shame!
