DL380 G3 RAID5 has problem with SCSI ID

Hi,

I have problem with RAID5 rebuilding.
DL380g3 has 3 disks of raid5, SCSI ID 0, 1, 2.

SCSI ID2 disk failed, removed SCSI ID2 disk.
and then wait 30 seconds, inserted new disk
at SCSI ID 2.

When i run ACU, newly inserted disk has
different SCSI ID 6.
failed disk still exist.

I want to know what is happening to my DL380 array card.

Thank you.

Re: DL380 G3 RAID5 has problem with SCSI ID

Hi..

sounds like the device that makes the DL380 G3 have two channels/Ports on the array.. Can't remember what they are called but it's a little bridge on the back of the harddisk cage..

Can't see any other reason why a disk bay would change it's SCSI ID

Re: DL380 G3 RAID5 has problem with SCSI ID

that's is a corrupted RIS tables (RAID Information Sector) is corrupted most of the time an old firmware for controller causes that issue

I won't make you loss your time
backup and re-create that's it

I usually recommend in case you wanna try

- remove all HDDS and run erase utility
- update firmware for controller
Didn't your momma teach you to say thanks!
