which server model I mean dl580 ?
generation 1, generation 2, ... ???
which proliant support pack do you have install?
--------------------
so if you have Dl580 G4, try install these drives for the NIC Card, first the link number one if the issue continues, unistall it and install the second link. OK.

Re: DL580 WITH SAS DRIVE LATEST
not a problem it is an issue with the driver for the NIC card not very stable and some weird behaviors:
HP NC-Series Multifunction Driver for Windows Server 2003
so try installing the driver I linked first the latest one if the issue continues an older one (second one)
anything else let us know

Re: DL580 WITH SAS DRIVE LATEST
for example if you read this thread
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1175886
Harvey Smith says:
" I have discovered that the problem is caused by the HP NC-Series Multifunction driver for windows server included in PSP v.7.90 cp007676.exe (3.4.10.0). With this driver installed the autocheck will not work with fibre attached disks. Rolling back the driver to either cp007290.exe (3.0.7.0) from PSP 7.80 or cp007020.exe (2.8.18.0) from PSP 7.70 fixes the problem.
(NOTE: The driver cp007290.exe prevents the server being shutdown correctly, it will automatically reboot instead of shutting down with this driver installed)"
the file cp007290 is include in PSP 7.8.
remember SmartStart is not the same as PSP, OK smartstart include the iption to install PSP, but smartstart is the made-it-easy to install and PSP includes the drivers for the OS.
so as a conclusion PSP 7.91 must include the latest driver for this NICs, which does not have the issue and the PSP 7.7 which Harvey Smith install and the server does not reboot
try both options and let us know OK

Re: DL580 WITH SAS DRIVE LATEST
go to device manager and check if there are any questionmarks. It happens really often by updating... If so, you can uninstall the cards, rescan for hardware and install the drivers manually.
