HP DL380 and Red Hat Linux Server Question

We are getting ready to purchase a HP DL380 server and load Red Hat Linux 5 Enterprise Server on it. This server's primary function will be a file share server for millions of image files to Windows Clients using SAMBA, connected to a HP XP 20000 SAN via fiber.

My question is, not being a Linux person, which version would be the best solution for such a server, x86 32bit or x86 64 bit.

What limitations would I run into loading either version.

Any and all advise/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Re: HP DL380 and Red Hat Linux Server Question

I guess 64bit would be recommended if the server will have lot's of RAM installed... also make sure any third party software you need to install is 64 bit friendly/compatible.

Good luck.
