HP ILO4 not accessible from LAN

Hi all,

I have a Proliant DL360 Gen9 (P89) running ILO4 version 2.79 and system rom version 2.90. Everything related to ILO works as expected except I cannot access the ILO interface from a neighboring client on the same LAN.

Explaining better, I cannot ping, get SNMP readings or access ILO web from a neighboring client on the same LAN, but I can accomplish all of these operations if I'm in a client elsewhere in my network. All ILO interfaces are in a dedicated LAN with a default gateway from which they can access the Internet and get accessed by external clients elsewhere in my network. The problem occurs only with ILO4. A have several ILO5 interfaces in the same LAN and I can contact them with no issue both from the LAN or from elsewhere.

It's like a firewall issue where the ILO4 system only permits requests coming from its gateway and ignores traffic coming from elsewhere.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Re: HP ILO4 not accessible from LAN

This might be due to iLO secuirty setting.

Are you sure there is a cable plugged into the iLO?

Is it a static or DHCP address?

During POST is the adress shown on the screen?

is your client on the same physical network?

Might there be a firewall between your client and the iLO?

Checl also IP conflicting,.

Re: HP ILO4 not accessible from LAN

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

The ILO interfaces are getting their addresses by DHCP in a dedicated LAN. I forgot to mention I'm using the shared network interface scheme (the 1st interface for all servers).  That is, within the same network interface I have the ILO IP and the Hypervisor IP.

The subject ILO4 interface gets its IP normally, it is shown in the POST screen. From this IP address, I can ping the interface and access the web GUI with no issues if I'm outside the LAN (accessing through the gateway). If I put a client in the very same physical LAN, I cannot access or ping the ILO interface. This only happens with the subject server. I have several DL 360 with ILO5 in same network and this neighboring client can access them without problems.

The switch I'm using is a Catalyst 2960.
