HP ProLiant DL380 G9 P440ar Raid 50 can not add hot spare

Server build with 6 Drives set in Raid 50. I did not have other drives to set as "Hot Spare" at the time of loading the server. I add the 2 drives that are identical and Smart Storage Administrator (SSA)  does not give me the option to add them as a Hot Spare for the Raid 50 array. Any work arounds out there to add an unassighned drive as "Hot Spare" Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Need to check a few things first:
Are the drives detected by the server?
Does SSA see the Drives as Unassigned drives?
Check if the SSA needs to be updated or P440ar firmware needs an update.

YES, They show as unassigned.

SSA Version  5.30.6.0 And firmware from the latest:

SPP  P35938_001_spp-2021.05.0-SPP2021050.2021_0504.129

Both firmware and the software are the latest that I know from the information above. How can I get the version of  firmware from the storage controler?  So I can post in this message.

Hi,

Have you tried using the CLI version of SSA to configure the drives?
Refer to the SSA Guide,
Check this video, Adding spare disk from SSACLI.
