HPE DL 380 Gen 10 with P408i-a SAS controller drives espansion

Hi, we have a HPE DL380 Gen 10 server with P408i-a SAS controller with 8 SAS disk drives.

We want to add a HPE DL38X Gen10 SFF Box1/2 Cage/Backplane Kit (826691-B21) to expand the server to 16 disk drives. Does the P408i-a SAS controller support 16 SAS disk drives?

Do we need anything special other than the Backplane Kit and the additional 8 SAS drives? (are the cables included in the kit?

Hi,

the 8 in P408 stands for 8 SAS Lanes and every Disk needs a SAS lane.

You can expand with a SAS Expander or add a second Controller or change to P816i-a.
