HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Port 3 Bay 3 and 4 not working
When I connect an HDD to bay 3 or 4 on port 3, none of the drives are detected, I've tried various HDD's but nothing works, even HPE drives. However, bays 1 and 2 on port 3 work correctly. Again, no HDD works in bays 3 and 4 on port 3.
I ruled out the backplane as the issue because I connected it to port 2, and both bay 3 and 4 were detected. I also tested with a different SAS cable on port 2, and it worked. The problem is specifically with port 3, as it fails to detect any drives in bay 3 or 4. Maybe is there a setting I should change?

Re: HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Port 3 Bay 3 and 4 not working
Hello!
Since port 3 of your HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 isn't detecting drives in bays 3 or 4, even with various HDDs, consider checking the firmware to ensure it's up to date, verifying the BIOS/UEFI settings to confirm port 3 is enabled and correctly configured, and using HPE Smart Storage Administrator to check the status and configuration of your storage controllers. These steps should help identify the issue since you’ve already ruled out the backplane and SAS cables.

Re: HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Port 3 Bay 3 and 4 not working
Hi,
i recently had exactly the same thing with a Gen10 server. The customer wanted to add disks and they were not recognized in the two slots.
It was an endless battle with support, which demanded many firmware and driver updates, then photos of everything.
At some point later, support first replaced the cable and then the backplane, which finally solved the problem.
