LBA Mode

Got a Proliant 360 G3 running Win2003. Dual HD's configured as RAID 1 (mirror set), configured with two partitions, C and D. Due to poor planing on my part I need to move free HD space from D to C. Purchased software that will allow for this but they suggested I switch the HD in the BIOS from "auto" to LBA mode and set the number of sectors to 63.

Question is...does the G3 support this option? Are there any adverse affects from switching to LBA mode?

Thanks.

Re: LBA Mode

I think they are refering to IDE drives, probably worried about sector translations of older systems using larger hard drives. With BIOS driven controllers like SCSI, you do not have to worry about this issue, you are a lgoical drive created by the controller to present ato appearence of a single drive (RAID 1 from 2 drives).
Your situation is pretty normal, and why we alway suggest install the OS on a seperate physical drive than the RAID logical drive used for data. This way expansion of the data drive is not hampered.
Hope the software can handle the logical drive partition adjustment for you.
