memory upgrade
I have a Proliant 1600R running with two Pentiums 2/450 Processors. I have removed two 128mb dimms from the system and installed four 256dimms(313616-b21). Then i get nothing, system fails to come back on, i get the light but nothing else no post bleeps nothing. if i leave one 128mb dimm and install three 256mb dimms the system works (aprox 900mb). why will this not work with four 256mb dimms?
please help?

Re: memory upgrade
The answer from COMPAQ is great. I didn't know four 256MB DIMMS is more than 1GB... We have similar problem (PL 1600, 2xPIII 600). After adding any of 256MB DIMMS (313616-B21) System Information Agent reports correctable memory error, but server seems work correctly.

Re: memory upgrade
I have a Proliant 1600R 600/Dual with 4 X 256MB RAM, and 4 X 9.1GB HDs and I am having problems finding any logical drives when the system boots. I try running Array Configuration but it won't find any drives either. I just spoke with Sonny at Compaq tech support and he tells me that you MUST degrade your system to 512MB before you can set up the server, THEN you can add the other 512 once the operating system is installed.
Has anyone else had to do this?
Thanks,
Will
