Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

If I only knew this before purchasing the server. I would have gone for another brand which I know RAID1 works with Win2008 x64.

HP should not advertise that it works with W2k8 x64, when it does not have the proper drivers.

Hmmm, let me see if I can return this server??

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Karlo was right on jul 9, where he is saying that the correct driver is used, being cp008698. Extract that file to a folder on the USB memory stick.
When Windows setup is looking for a disk to install on, it won't find one. But on that screen is a button 'Load driver'. Insert the USB stick in the machine, click the button and browse to the location where you extracted cp008698.exe. There is a subfolder amd64. Select that folder and press Enter. Select the only driver that will be found and press Enter. Now, after a while, Windows will find the disk array.

And now the very important thing: after Windows setup found the disk, REMOVE the USB stick. If you don't, Windows doesn't understand your USB drive and will produce the "Windows could not determine if this computer contains a valid system volume" message!

The cp008698.exe is a file that you don't find on the normal HP support site for the ML150 G5. On that place you find cp009033.exe for MS W2k3 x64 and w2k8 x64. But that will not work on w2k8 x64, it gives you the Blue Screen of Death after the first reboot.
The correct driver (cp008698.exe) can be found on ftp://ftp3.hp.com/ftp1/pub/softlib2/software1/sc-windows/p1431394271/v45437/
I got that link after I tried to install w2kx64 for a day, and at last called HP Support. The First solution did not work . When I called again, another person there found this driver after a long telephone session.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Hey thanks I'll try that. Do you know which driver works for the 32 bit version ?

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

good news guys

W2008 drivers are already released

x32 bits -> cp009510.exe

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/sc-windows/p1566883782/v48733/cp009510.exe

x64 bits -> cp009511.exe
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/sc-windows/p35787657/v48734/cp009511.exe

enjoy for those who were having BSOD

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

This is great news. Will try it later today. Update soon. Great Job.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Did a clean install of Win2008 x64 with RAID 1, got to a point where it needs the drivers, point it to the USB floppy (Where I have extracted the new drivers), but this message came out " to continue installation, use the load driver option to install 32-bit and signed 64-bit drivers. installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unusable windows installation".

And it did not see the ARRAY. So cant continue.

I need help here, am I doing something wrong?

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Yes, I downloaded the "NEW" drivers, but still same results.

Some how Win2008 x64 does not recognize the drivers as signed drivers.

Thinking of disabling the RAID, install the OS then installing the RAID Drivers then enabling RAID. But dont have time now. Will try later.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

you know what these were the drivers a lot of people were waiting long time now see the results

** I have tested these yet maybe this week

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Sorry, same problem with new drivers.

message came out " to continue installation, use the load driver option to install 32-bit and signed 64-bit drivers. installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unusable windows installation".

Cannot see the array. Cannot continue after that.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Ran into the same issue.

The answer to the unsigned driver issue is here:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa906338.aspx

BTW- when you press F8 during the boot, it's not obvious that it worked - not an instantaneous screen. It will appear only after the bar has completed loading the RAMdrive.

I can't believe that HP would put unsigned drivers on their site given that Server 2008 and Vista require signed drivers to work.

Did try it and did it work ?

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

No it did not. HP Malaysia does not have any solutions either.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

The correct driver is
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&swItem=MTX-f33ff2908afe4a7db6d74d72fa&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

Extract the files to a USB drive, but do not boot with it in the machine.

Once you are asked to load drivers, install and load the only driver listed.

Once it sees your drive, unplug your USB drive.

This worked for me.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Didn't you get the error of not signed drivers with Win2008 x64?? You cannot proceed with this error. Cant even see the array.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

I am also getting the same " to continue installation, use the load driver option to install 32-bit and signed 64-bit drivers. installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unusable windows installation" message when attempting to install W2K8 x64.

I was on the phone with HP last night and they pointed me to the driver CP008695. I attempted to use that driver and it did not work. It give the same message. I guess that driver is for W2K3.

Any other ideas? I have responded to the ticket that it did not work and will post what they suggest.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

I have been trying to hunt down a solution for this problem for ages.

Windows 2008, x64 has installed, and it runs...for a while.

Whenever there is a large amount of disk activity the system halts needing a reboot.

For a long time I thought this was a processor problem because the BIOS event log records it as a CPU0 Error (having swapped the processors and having the same issue on another ML150, I know it cannot be that).

Today, finally, I managed to get to the bottom of the problem.

I opened up Resource Monitor and watched. When disk activity goes up, after about 20 minutes suddenly the disc activity stops completely. The system eventually fails because it is then unable to access the page file.

I also got the message: "to continue installation, use the load driver option to install 32-bit and signed 64-bit drivers. installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unusable windows installation" with an microsoft windows server 2008 action pack (dutch and english edition) license cd. I now tried installing with microsoft hyper-v server downloaded cd and i don't get the error message, i will also try to download the trial server 2008 cd and test.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

I too was using an install disk with multiple versions of the OS on it. I was able to get the install to work when using the 32 bit drivers and then updating the drivers after the OS install. Win2k8 and Exchange 2k7 have been installed and there have been 0 problems so far. Hope this helps.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Used this driver " CP009517". Managed to see the array, can format the array and install Win2008 x64.

After s/w installtion, it needs to reboot, then BSOD. Going into safe mode, it loads the disk drivers, and BSOD and reboots.

I not sure what to do next. Any one can help me out??

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

You need cp009516.exe for X64 version, cp009517.exe is for 32 bit. Used 9517 on new install of WS2008 X32 and it seems to be working fine.
