ML310 G4 Adaptec embedded controller
I haven't had the chance to open the server yet, so the only thing i know about the adapter is the 'Adaptec Serial ATA HostRAID' string in device manager.
I'm guessing the HP ACU won't work with this adapter either, but have read that some users had success with Adaptec's Storage Manager, so if anyone knows which version to download please post here.

Re: ML310 G4 Adaptec embedded controller
see this manual page for ml310 g4
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManualā©=en&cc=us&docIndexId=64180&taskId=101&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3201057
there is a document called
"HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller User Guide"
This is for an adaptec card.
It mentions a utility called hrconf or /usr/StorMan/hrconf.exe
It doesn't mention a GUI though it may be possible.
You can get them from here:
HP Embedded G5 SATA RAID Controller Manager for Windows Server 2003/2008
They do say G5 though if you look in the release notes you will see that the ML310 G4 is supported.

Re: ML310 G4 Adaptec embedded controller
In this forum they have points that the postauthors can give out to replies.
I wonder what that might be. I have quite rarely seen more than a hand of arrays or logical volumes in one disk controller. Are you afraid it will only support one or two? Maybe in the quickspecs or manuals? If not it may become hard to find. Maybe any other post in here about the same server can hold the info.

Re: ML310 G4 Adaptec embedded controller
My plan is to add another raid-1 array and use it as a network share and leave the old one as system drive.

Re: ML310 G4 Adaptec embedded controller
Jimmy vance says the card that customer had in their ML310 G4 was the one on a Intel with the name "82801GR".
Anyway, I tried any specs for the storage controller on it, but couldn't.
But. In the quickspecs it says that it supports max 4 disks on the SATA model.
I find it very unlikely that it would not support two RAID1 arrays of two disks each.
