ML310 IDE raid and Linux

I have 4 x 80Gb IDE drives installed and setup using Raid 1 in the raid controller bios. On boot the raid drives are listed as raid0, raid1.

When trying to install linux (redhat 7.3 or 8.), I followed the instructions, from Compaq, about creating a driver disk and installing it, but when it comes to partitioning the system, linux only sees the 4 individual drives and not the 2 raid drives.

How can I get linux to only see the raid devices?
