Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

HI,

IT IS DUE TO MEMORY
CHECK FOR THE IML LOGS TO CONFIRM THE SAME
WHICH MODULE IS FAULTY OF RUN ONLINE/OFFLINE DAIGNOSTICS ON SAME SERVER TO DIAGNOS THE SAME PROBLEM
Nothing is impossible

Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

You can load the IML viewer from the smart start cd and view the log in windows or if you have management agents installed you can access the IML there. If you have a smartstart 6.4 (maybe all 6.x) you can boot the server with it and go to server diagnostics and click on the logs tab then click on Integrated Management Log (IML).

good luck.

Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

Hi,

To check for IML entries then check for Survey.txt on your server c driver. should be under C;\compaq\survey. It would be there in case if the installation has been done through smart start or support pack installed on server.
In survey.txt check for Compaq Integrated log that will give full details about your server. In case you are not able to get through with report attach same one in as atchement with message i will explain you regading same.

Note :
IML entries should be below compaq integrated logs. In Survey.txt

Bye for Now.

Regards,
Prashant S.

Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

Hello Mr. Yadav,

You were refering to product hp5295 and it's problem. If you can explain the product information and exact problem. But since error we are discussing yes it is due to memory. You can run Daignostics from HP for same to validate the problem might help you.

Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

With regards to NMI parity errors.
We replaced motherboard, raid controller and memory and still had the problem. It is most likely to be faulty or invalid drivers

Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

I'm having the same error message, but ONLY after the PC has finished its save settings and shut down routine. Then I just hold down the power button to shut it off and when I start it up again it loads fine and nothing unusual happens until I shut it down again.
I'm on a HP Pavilion 8550C Desktop with 96 MB SDRAM (64 MB/32MB), BIOS 1.03, recently upgraded from Win98SE to WinXP PRO ver 2002 and added a DWL520+ PCI wireless "b" card (that's working great)and I had to install Windows Service Pack 1 for WinXP to recognize the wireless PCI card.
Do I need to upgrade my BIOS? Install two SDRAM chips that match? Start a chain letter for luck?
Please help.

Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

Hey I had Similir issues on an older DL server. I can almost 100% say the issue is with your NIC Cards. You might want to start replacing them one by one.

Good Luck

Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

So, are you saying that I have to either enable or replace my Ethernet card? Even if I'm not using it?
Thanks

Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

I'm having similar issues on a DL320 Server that I set up to be a Windows Server 2003 Domain Controller. It ran fine for 3 years as a Win2kS system. Did a clean install of 2003 4 months ago and it was OK for a 3 months in test mode, now that it is in use, I get a memory parity error every few days (didn't change anything between test/live mode, I was the only person using it for the first 3 months). Swapped out the memory with some from another server, same results. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

I got the same problem on my new XW4100 workstation with 2*512MB memory and LATEST BIOS (which means it's not the same problem as seen on a XW4100 with 4*512 memory and old BIOS).

Since this stupid error doesn't give any clue on where the error is from, I really can't provide more info other than the lines:

NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
NMI: Channel Check / IOCHK

Today I've disabled ECC and hope it helps. Pls pls help.

Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

This errors are almost always are the result of bad/incompatable driver and not a hardware malfunction. When i first encountered these errors on some of mine dl320 after upgrading to 2k3 server, i've replaced RAM and just about every piece of hardware but that did not help. Then i've reinstalled every driver and cpq utility with updated hp drivers and utilities and have not had thses errors since. NOTE, Do not use smart start CD, download EVERY available driver and utility for your server model and OS from HP support site, reinstall ALL even if the driver sound like it has nothing to do with the error.
Good luck to all.

Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

Oh yes, and the most importing, FLASH system ROM to the newest available version.
On one of the servers i have that alone has fixed these errors.

Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

I just had the same problem on a HP Pavilion 7905. What had happened is the AGP interface was causing the error. There was an AGP card in there and when I replaced the AGP card with another after the restart to finish the driver install the error appeared again. I then put in a PCI Video card and the error vanished.

Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

Hey,
I think I can sovle your problem with the "NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error" and this is how I fix my dual-celeron 400MHz running PC-133 ECC SDRam. After extensive testing, changing of all PCI/AGP cards and reinstalling of all drivers and having no luck with fixing the error, I disabled the ECC checking on the RAM and the problem was resolved.

Hopes this works for you as well.

Re: NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

I'm getting the same error on a Compaq DL320 server(1 G of RAM) and it's been racking my brain. It is not consistent though. Sometimes the server just freezes up and I have to unplug it to reboot.

It showed up right around the time I installed Trend Micro Officescan on the machine. Viruses were coming into the server and bieng caught(It's an Exchg server) and I thought that had something to do with it for a while, but the more I have been reading about this out on the net the more it appears hardware related.

How do I determine which drivers could be corrupt or need to be reinstalled? Where would I look for the BIOS upgarde?

thanks.
