Hi,
I have a HP ProLiant DL360 Gen10 server with the problem that RAM is not recognized or is displayed as faulty. No matter how you change the RAM and no matter if you use other RAM, you always get errors...I have already upgraded the ROM to the latest version and replaced all RAM with new ones...did not help...
Do you have any idea what the problem could be?
Please find attached a picture of the messages and my RAM configuration. All white slots are occupied, the black ones are all empty (as they should be). I have 2 CPUs installed so there are 6 DIMMs per CPU. If you fill all slots, the errors also appear. Original 16GB HPE DIMMs with the right frequency and Voltage were used.
Oh I just noticed: I can't attach my own pictures.......
Errors are:
234 DIMM Initialization Error - Processor 1 DIMM 8. The identified DIMM could not be properly trained and has been mapped out. (Major Code: 00000031, Minor Code: 00000014). Action: Re-seat the identified DIMM and update System ROM. If the Issue persists, contact support.
234 DIMM Initialization Error - Processor 1 DIMM 5. The identified DIMM could not be properly trained and has been mapped out. (Major Code: 00000031, Minor Code: 00000014). Action: Re-seat the identified DIMM and update System ROM. If the Issue persists, contact support.
234 DIMM Initialization Error - Processor 1 DIMM 3. The identified DIMM could not be properly trained and has been mapped out. (Major Code: 00000031, Minor Code: 00000014). Action: Re-seat the identified DIMM and update System ROM. If the Issue persists, contact support.
234 DIMM Initialization Error - Processor 2 DIMM 8. The identified DIMM could not be properly trained and has been mapped out. (Major Code: 00000031, Minor Code: 00000014). Action: Re-seat the identified DIMM and update System ROM. If the Issue persists, contact support.
234 DIMM Initialization Error - Processor 2 DIMM 10. The identified DIMM could not be properly trained and has been mapped out. (Major Code: 00000031, Minor Code: 00000014). Action: Re-seat the identified DIMM and update System ROM. If the Issue persists, contact support.

511 One or more DIMMs have been mapped out due to a memory error
Hope someone can help...thanks

Re: ProLiant DL360 Gen10 RAM Problem
Hi @ITsLukas ,|
This HPE document has mentioned the exact error number and solution. I assume, you have finished first step. Please follow the below suggestions-
Issue : DIMMs are not seated correctly.
Solution: Reseat the DIMMs
Issue: Components version incompatiblity
Solution : Upgrade all the system component's firmware by SPP.
Issue: Processors are not seated correctly.
Solution: Reseat the processors. Careful while removing heat sink and processor. Mind the processor pins of MB should not bend.
Issue: DIMM issue.
Solution: Validate the DIMMs model is supported and seated in proper slots.
Issue : Other components issue
Solution: Configure the server with minimum hardware required to run. Such as 1 CPU (Primary must be available), 2 DIMMs, 1 PSU, Remove additional add on cards such as NIC or FC HBA. After that, add one by one, till you catch a device causing the issue.
I hope, you get the solution in above steps. If issue still persists, please reply with steps taken and their results including the logs.

Shiva_jr

Re: ProLiant DL360 Gen10 RAM Problem
Hi @shiva_jr ,
Thank you for the quick reply. I have followed your steps. The problem comes from the moment I use the second CPU...everything works with one CPU. But unfortunately I need both...I have already replaced both processors with others to test if this was the problem...without success. The two processors are Intel Xeon Gold 6126 and I have always used the DIMMs according to the assembly guidelines. The problem always occurs with 2 CPUs...even when I use other CPUs. I am really at a loss as to what I am doing wrong...
Regards,
Lukas

SolutionHi,
I changed the CPUs again...it was my mistake: the CPUs that were in there before were 2 Intel Xeon Silver 4208.
Now I have installed the Xeon Gold 6126 and with these everything works as it should...so it seems to be the processor type...but the server does not report that the Silver 4208 are not working (despite the latest firmware)...if I had not tried a different model by chance, I would probably never have thought of it...
So if you have the same problem, just try a different CPU model if you have any at hand.
regards,
Lukas
