Hello,
I've an Proliat DL380 gen 9 with Rom Version 2.96.
Intelligent Provisioning Version 2.87.5 and SmartArray Version 7.2
The SmartArray Controller is P440ar.
Intelligent Provisioning is switched on.
I've attached a P441 SmartArray Controler that isn't detected from UEFI/ SmartArray or Intelligent Provisioning.
The Controller ist tested on a Proliant DL380 gen8 with success.
What I've to switch or change that the gen9 detect the controller. It isn't listet in DeviceInventory, too.
Thank's for any help.

Re: Proliant DL380 gen9 didn't detect P441 SmartArray Controller
Hello @aschulz ,
Could you try connecting the P441 controller onto a different PCI slot or swap with a different PCI device within the server to check if the controller is detected?

Re: Proliant DL380 gen9 didn't detect P441 SmartArray Controller
Hello @SydUmar_1,
thank you for reply.
I've made following steps to resolve the problem:
Test the controller on primary and secondary riser. Testes on every PCIe slot.
For testing I insert the card into a dl380 gen8. On gen 8 the card is fully useable.
On DL380 gen9 the PCIe Slot is shown as empty.
I tested the DL380 gen 9 with an SLI Controller, with success on the same PCIe slot. But it was only for testing. My goal is to use the P441 Controller.
Firmware on the Server:
ILO: 2.82
ROM: 2.96
SmartArray 7.0
Intelligen Provisioning: 2.20.219
I've also tested with SmartArray on and off, Intelligent Provisioning on/off and reset to factory defaults.
The result everytime is the same. The card wasn't detected and neither shown in ILO->Devices (slot is empty) nor in OS (lspci).

Re: Proliant DL380 gen9 didn't detect P441 SmartArray Controller
Can we remove all the PCI devices, Riser and then just install this P441 controller to check if it gets detected or works?

Re: Proliant DL380 gen9 didn't detect P441 SmartArray Controller
I've removed all cards and tested without success.
I've tested on first and second riser. I removed the onboad Controler and made all tests again.
Then I build in the card in an DL380 gen8 and flashed the firmware to 7.2.
Then I repeated all tests.
In gen8 the card works fine. On gen9 the card isn't in ILO or BIOS/UEFI.
I've checked all UEFI Options many times again.

Re: Proliant DL380 gen9 didn't detect P441 SmartArray Controller
Can we check if the PCI device is not disabled in the BIOS (It shouldn't be, but lets let check to confirm).
Clear the NVRAM of the server and check if that makes a difference - https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=sf000076014en_us&docLocale=en_US (Please note that this will reset the BIOS settings to default state and settings will need to be reconfigured)
If the above does not resolve the issue, please log a support ticket with the HPE support team for further assistance with this issue.

SolutionHello,
I'm sorry for reply late.
We have tested all possible solutions without any success. So we bought another P441 Controller.
The new one was running on Gen9 and Gen10 without any problems.
So it seems, that the other has a hardware-problem why it is running only on gen8.
Thank you for you assitance. The problem is solved.
