I bought a secondhand Proliant Gen8 microserver (Intel Pentium G2020T) which cannot seem to boot and stays stuck at 90% post with message "Memory and QPI Link Initialization Start" and status code 0114.
I read this must be related to the DIMMS so I have tried removing one of the two dimms, swaping them, tried all slots and combinations with no luck.
I also read that the system does not support registered dimms. However, my dimms (which look like they are the default certified hp) have this reference: 4GB 2RX4 PC3-10600R-9-10-JP. If I read this correctly, this means the dimms are registered memory and thus non compatible with the system.
Assuming this must be the problem, I ordered new unregistered dimms online. These new ones have for reference 8GB 2RX8 PC3-12800U-11-13-B1. But no luck either, the system still doesn't boot.
I have checked the CPU for a bent pin but everything looked fin. Also cleaned it just in case.
I also have access to the ILO.
Anyone would have a clue about my issue? Is there a chance I bought the wrong rams? Can the problem come from somewhere else?

What ProLiant Gen8 model do you have and what CPU model is installed?

SolutionUnfortunately, the HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 requires Unbuffered DIMMs with ECC (this is a sore spot with me because in some locations of the quickspecs it just says "DDR3 Unbuffered (UDIMM)", without mentioning the ECC requirement, but I digress). See the quickspecs for the supported memory part numbers for your CPU type:

Re: ProLiant Gen8 stuck at post (code 0114)
So this must be the reason then. I will order ecc-udimms and see if that fixes the problem.
Thank you for your help!
