Proliant ML 350 G5

This server quit repsonding on the network the other day, the end user was instructed to do a safe shutdown and power back up, same issue. Reboots were tried, same result. After she just shut it down via the power button it starting responding on the network again. I went out there and put them a new gigabit switch and a new patch cable for the server and I got the same result. Had to just power it off at the login splash screen, and this was after several reboots and safe shutdowns. The nic is a HP NC373i, anyone else with similar issues before on this paticular server? Ping test back to my corporate were Destination host unreachable but I could get to the internet.
