Hi,
I am using a Proliant DL380 Gen 9 server with single processor and 16 GB RAM. I want to increase the RAM to 64 GB.
I have one extra 16 GB module (HPE 16GB (1x16GB) Dual Rank x4 DDR4-2400 CAS-17-17-17 Registered Memory Kit) and one 32 GB module (HPE 32GB (1x32GB) Dual Rank x4 DDR4-2400 CAS-17-17-17 Registered Memory Kit).
What would be the best way to populate the RAM modules?
Slot C = 16, Slot D= 16, Slot B = 32 or Slot C = 32, D=16, H=16
Thanks in advance.

Re: RAM installation on DL380 Gen9
Hi,
Please refer to the QuickSpecs, page# 41
General Memory Population Rules and Guidelines:
White DIMM slots denote the first slot of a channel. For 1 DPC (DIMM per channel) populate white slots only.
A minimum of one DIMM is required per server.
Install DIMMs only if the corresponding processor is installed.
If only one processor is installed in a two processor system, only half of the DIMM slots are available.
Thank You!

Re: RAM installation on DL380 Gen9
Thank you for your reply.
So, i should go as per one DIMM per channel rule,
(Ch 3) Slot C = 16, (Ch 4) Slot D= 16, (Ch 2) Slot B = 32?
I was wondaring, whether the load difference on the channels (one channel 32, two channel 16) can casue any performance issue?
Thanks.
