replace SATA with SAS drives in array [DL380 - G7]
dear community
a few of our servers (DL380 G7) are configured as follow
Smart Array P410i in Slot 0 (Embedded)
Array A
physicaldrive 1I:1:1 (port 1I:box 1:bay 1, SAS HDD, 146 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 1I:1:2 (port 1I:box 1:bay 2, SAS HDD, 146 GB, OK)
Array B
physicaldrive 1I:1:3 (port 1I:box 1:bay 3, SATA HDD, 500 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 1I:1:4 (port 1I:box 1:bay 4, SATA HDD, 500 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 2I:1:5 (port 2I:box 1:bay 5, SATA HDD, 500 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 2I:1:6 (port 2I:box 1:bay 6, SATA HDD, 500 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 2I:1:7 (port 2I:box 1:bay 7, SATA HDD, 500 GB, OK)
physicaldrive 2I:1:8 (port 2I:box 1:bay 8, SATA HDD, 500 GB, OK, spare)
It could be that we are running out of SATA spare disks before we have migrated all servers to G10. But we do have enough SAS drives in spare. Is there an easy way to replace all SATA drives in Array B with SAS drives? Sure, if we are running dangerously low on spare SATA drives we could buy some used ones online - hopefully they are still available till end of this year.
Thank you

Re: replace SATA with SAS drives in array [DL380 - G7]
Hello,
There is no option on HPE array controllers to have drives with a mix of technologies in the same array. This would include having a mix of SATA or SAS, along with SSD's and HDD's. The only way to "migrate" from SATA to SAS would be to back everything up, create a new array with SAS drives, then restored the backup.
