Smart Array Controller
Anyone know if an ML370 without the optional smart array controller can be upgraded to use the smart array controller, so I can start using RAID and mirror some drives? If not, could I go ahead and install NT etc, then simply plug the drives into a different ML370 (with the smart array controller) when I can get one, and then set up the mirrors?

Re: Smart Array Controller
If the configuration of the hard drives are setup using the intergrated 32bit ctlr, data would be lost if the drives are transferred to a smart Array controller. The geometry of the drives setup from a 32bit controller vs a Smart Array controller communicates differently. If you want the drives to setup with Raid features, they would have to be initially setup on the Array controller. Otherwise, you will have to restore from backup coming from a onboard or PCI 32b or 64bit controller.
