SSDs degraded (predictiva (failure)

SSDs degraded (predictive failure)
I have purchased 15 new sealed HPE SSDs for a Proliant server as I was running low on storage space and needed more. When installing the SSDs, 8 of them failed with the message *degraded (predictive failure)*. I have alternated SSDs in another server and in other bays and the error continues to appear with those serial numbers. Is it possible that all 8 have failed? Or could it be due to problems with the RAID or the SSD firmware?
Is there a tool to check the status of the SSD or debug if it is not a false positive or some other problem?

Re: SSDs degraded (predictiva (failure)

Hi @Chris963 ,
To check the status of SSDs you can use HPE Smart Storage Administrator (HPE SSA). It is available in both GUI and CLI. The below links might help you:
HPE SSA GUI
HPE SSA CLI

Re: SSDs degraded (predictiva (failure)

Hello,

As those drives report predective failure in two different servers, then it indicates issues with those drives. It is recommended to contact HPE Support along with the original invoices for the purchase for a possible warranty claim, if they find that those drives are indeed defective and if they are under warranty coverage.

Yes, it is better to contact HPE support, HPE SSDs.

You get wear guage report in SSA. That report will help HPE understand the cause.

You can share the model number of the SSD here , for us to look for any known issues with the model or firmware.

Thanks,
TAM
