Password for web-based management software

I have installed a new ProLiant DL360 G3 with SmartStart-drivers 6.40. During installing of the SmartStart-drivers i have entered a password for the administrator for the web-based management software. So far so good.
On my admin-server i want to connect to this new ProLiant with https://servername:2381. The manangement homepage is loading well but if i want to login to this ProLiant as administrator with the password i have entered during installation of the web management software this message appears:
Your login attempt was rejected.
What is the reason? I have entered the password correct. Reinstalling the SmartStart-drivers was not the solution. In Compaq Insoght Manager the new ProLiant is showing correct. Now I need help. Thanx...

Re: Password for web-based management software

I have exactly the same problem. The only difference is that I have upgraded to W2k from Win NT 4.0. Any ideas?

Re: Password for web-based management software

Try password administrator :)) This is default password on HP Insight Management agents.

Re: Password for web-based management software

Do not forget to try username:administrator with small letters. If it still doesn't work, you could try restoring passwords to defaults by deleting a .cpl file.

Re: Password for web-based management software

I had this same problem too. Finally, to get around the problem, I did this:

1)Logged onto another server - a server where the Management password worked.

2)Copied cpqhmmd.acl from c:\compaq\wbem to the same directory on the target server.

3) Restarted the web agent and Foundation Agent services.

Good luck!

Re: Password for web-based management software

In order to configure your agents correctly, you need to use the Proliant Support Pack Software from the download area of www.hp.com. Run setup.exe from the folder you extracted the software into. If you have executed this on the server you wish to install the agents onto, the machine name will be the local one, otherwise just type in the name of the server you wish to deploy the agents to. (NOTE: If you are installing remotely, ensure you have local admin permissions or DA rights to that server). Within the Support Software window, you will see a section labelled Configurable Components and it's in here you can define the security for your agents (passwords, trusts, repository, etc). The simplest configuration is to allow all hosts to access the agents (TRUST ALL). Also, each configurable agent has the option to overwrite the previous security settings. I recommend that this is enabled but you must ensure you type the exact same password in each config for each agent.
Once you have configured the agents, click Install and off they go! once complete, don't reboot and go to Control panel and open the HP Management Agents. The first tab (Services) should be left as default unless you use clustering\Rack reporting\Rib SNMP sets for management. The second tab is the SNMP Settings tab and it's this tab which is the most important. I find the following settings provide me with real-time alerting:

Data collection int = 15 seconds
Enable SNMP Sets = MUST be ticked
Enable remote reboot = Enabled
Enable the application exception = Enabled
Disable telnet = Disabled
Disable rack I..T.. = Disabled

the other tabs you configure as you wish.

Reboot the server and once up, you can open your agents via https://servername:2381.

Also, you will need to ensure that you have configured the Windows SNMP Service correctly if you are relying on SNMP traps being sent to your management station (i.e. HP-SIM). By only doing the above, you will only have access to the 2381 agent interface. If it's all the same to whoever is reading this, I will leave the "How to set up HP-SIM and my 2000 servers for SNMP" until later....

Re: Password for web-based management software

I just deleted the cpqhmmd.acl file form the c:\compaq\wbem directory and reinstalled the software for the SmartStart cd.

On installation it asked for a new password.
