We haven't yet upgraded from 4.1 to 4.2 ... but I was wondering if anyone could let me know if in the create list options and/or reporting options if you can search for a given value for the SNMP "Contact" or "Location" fields? In 4.1 the table and column names would be:
CIM_ComputerSystem:PrimaryOwnerContact
CIM_ComputerSystem:dc_SystemLocation
We're trying to figure out how to group servers in some logical way because NOT all of our SIM devices are owned OR maintained by our group and my thought was if we modified the contact info within SNMP to say something like "ITSD Controlled" for example, then we could report on or group just OUR Servers (I can do this in 4.1 BUT not within SIM...I have to go straight to the SIM database).
Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions.

Re: 4.2 Report Question / how to sort or group
Perfect! This is just what I was looking for. Thanks.
I noticed the max length is 64 characters which should be fine but I have a couple more questions...
In the table where server role is stored (DC_ProliantHost) I noticed in addition to the field ServerRole a field called ServerRoleDetail. Do you happen to know if this is used and if so how it is set?
Lastly, when I make changes to the agents serverole setting do you know if I need to restart the snmp and agent services to pick up the change?
Thanks again!

Re: 4.2 Report Question / how to sort or group
You do not need to restart agents for the change to be picked up. You may need to run the Bi-Weekly task if you want the Reports Tables updated with the new detail.
