Interesting, that link failed with FFox with claims the certificate has been revoked. Worked with IE though.

Also, I was subscribed to HPSIM, is there another item / section I need to be subscribed to?

I'm subscribed to the system alerts. I've entered a couple of the system types that I have and I get regular alerts about patches, firmware updates and other things.


"Recommended Alert for your ProLiant Servers,Software,BladeSystem and Storage"
The email comes from alerts@alerts.hp.com

With a header of "Technology at Works Alerts"

anyone get a fix for this ? I just got the out of memory errrors on sim 5.2 sp1 and I just added the /3gb switch to see if it helps.

I don't know what to do this server has tons of memory and processing power but the application is crashing daily.

Can you guys share the following:
- How many 'devices' is you HP SIM Monitoring? So a 'Server' Would be a device and so on. There is a limit of about 500 devices that can be monitored...Thanks for your feedback.

Currently over 660 Servers, over 1500 other devices (mainly ILO), a few enclosures.

Plan to reach 3000 - 5000 Servers

HEADS UP, SIM 5.3 Update 1 will be coming and available sometime on Monday, 4/27/09. It has the fix along with other things of course.

Is alerts@alerts.hp.com the email address that sends these alerts? All of them?

I have been subscribing and realize now that these are out (and I see 700 online) that I've never received them.

I think my mail filter system is blocking the incoming email.

SIM 5.3 w/SP1 is now available. Hopefully will fix these problems. I'm installing now..

I started another thread with it looking for help.

I had an HP tech (Kent Gardner) come in and help set up our Remote Support because we had so many issues getting a connection. This is back early last year. I think we were one of the first to have this issue b/c no one knew how to fix it. Anyway, we had a certificate issue because our cert is not generated by an authority... we just use the generic one that SIM uses.

Well, he did some changes, and was on-site for 2 days and finally got it working. I'm not sure exactly what he changed, but it was editing some configuration information...

Once I just upgraded to SP 5.3 SP1, I saw there was information about needing to run the configuration tab on the SIM homepage.

When I did... there was the error message again about the certificate not being from a signed authority... and it won't go any further.
So... what did he change, and how can I set it back?

Just upgraded to 5.3 SP1, so far everything is working properly for me. No issues yet, will report back if something comes up.

I find 5.3 SP1 to be faster and has fixed all my bugs, aside from the RSCS issue...

Upgrading ICE to 3.10 now, so that I can have EVERYTHING up to date... looking forward to that.

I would recommend going to 5.3 SP1 as soon as you can if you are at 5.3.0

Any help fixing that certificate error would be appreciated though.

logged in at the console, I'm getting VB errors popping up in iseectl.exe

Not sure what that is as a result of, but it's repetitive.

As of yesterday, WEBES 5.5 which is a Transport for RSP, was pushed through RSP 5.20. Go to your Software Manager to make sure it installed correctly. As well, make sure Event Log Monitoring Collection is installed correctly. SIM issues that we talked about in this blog were addressed with WEBES 5.5

Remote Support Software Manager still shows WEBES 5.4 and not 5.5. I did get the email about 5.5 being released, but I don't see it available in the RSSM.

Incidentally, WEBES 5.4 shows a failed installation.

Can WEBES 5.5 be obtained outside of that update package, via direct download?

I have had the install of WEBES 5.5 hang several times now. I have tried to uninstall just it and use RSSM to reinstall but it still hangs. I was showing a failed install for v.5.4 also.
Still trying but if anyone has any ideas I could sure use them.

I just finished the upgrade to ICE 3.10 (DVD #1 and DVD #2).

It said that my remote support pack (RSP) needs to be upgraded to 5.20 because the one I have isn't compatible.

Will it ever end? :-)

Another question along these lines....

Now that ICE 3.10 has upgraded...

Looking at the "ABOUT" in Insight Manager, everything is updated to the latest versions, but RDP still shows as 3.60 (I was at 3.60 a LONG time ago).

Any way to update this? I didn't see it go to 3.70, 3.80, 3.81, 3.82 .....

stuck at 3.60 in the "About" Screen.

WEBES 5.5 downloaded and installed okay here.
You may just want to check the pre-reqs. one of the items I saw for part of RSSWM (I think) was the .Net 2.0 requirement. I can't lay my hand directly on the doc. but it seemed to be quite specific on that, otherwise RSSWM could play up.
The other thing is to ensure the IE Security extensions are disabled. Again that could impact RSSWM, I know we hadn't done that and when I changed it some of the connectivity issues were resolved.
We're running on W2k3 R2 x64, not sure if that makes a difference.

One issue I have noticed with WEBES 5.5 here is that the Help no longer works - page not found error.

I have a similar issue, I've just installed 5.3 update 1 on a fresh Win3k box. After I login to SIM, all I get is a blank screen. Looking at the page source, I also see the
"Communication with the HP SIM server has been lost..." message.

I don't see any Java heap errors in the mxdomainmgr.0.log file, but I do see "ERROR [[jsp]] Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception java.lang.NullPointerException" errors there.

Does anyone else have these issues?

I have the same issue, Systems Insight Manager 5.3 SP1 in W2k3.

When I try to run a report i obtain the following response:

"Communication with the HP SIM server has been lost.

If the server has stopped, restart it. If the server restarted because it was upgraded, first restart your browser. After verifying that the server is running, sign in again. "

I don't see any Java heap errors in the mxdomainmgr.0.log file.
The server have high CPU and the process Mxdomainmgr.exe have 50% of processor.

Each time i run a report, I obtain this error, and then is necesary a boot to solve.

Do you have any update about this?

I upgraded to 5.3 SP1... and now it lasts a few days and crashes.

I am just now rebooting my SIM server, I see that a hotfix for 5.3 SP1 is out. It fixes some memory leaks?

Not sure if this will solve it. We will see. I literally just installed it.
