can't install Version Control Repository Manager 2.0.7.10

Hi,

When I try to install this on Windows 2003 Standard edition with all latest patches, I am logged on as administrator I get the following error.

The installation procedure did not complete successfully. An error occurred during the setup process.

Additional Information:
An error (0) occurred while trying to install the MSXML Parser 3.0.

Press the 'Close' button to exit Setup.

What do the logs say? I know they can be a bit terse sometimes - perhaps an attached log would help...

Excuse my ignorance, but where should the log be located? I've searched in C:\compaq with no luck.

Logs are probably in \Program Files\HP on the root drive of SIM (I'm assuming you're installing HP SIM not Compaq IM). Never having had a failed installation, I couldn't say where they might be. Have a look around in the HP folder anyway.

This is about the best I can find.

It is located in:
C:\CPQSYSTEM\log

Hmmm... maybe it needs a little "help". Have a look in \System32 for msxml3.dll and xmlinst.exe - if they exist, move them somewhere safe and try the installation again.

Also possible is that 2003 doesn't like xml3 (this is just a guess, as I don't run 2003, but I know there are newer xml parser versions available from MS).

Glad it works! You can use the 'points assigned' (I think) drop-down on my replies and then the 'assign points' button at the bottom. If it doesn't work, mine's a Jack Daniel's & Coke :)
