How come I cannot restart SIM service manually?

Home come if the SIM service stops on a server, you can't just restart it and have it work? I get page not found error whenever I do this. If you reboot, the service works just fine.

Is that "Interact with desktop" option still a problem? I thought that was fixed long ago.

Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks

Try going in control panel and select HP Managemnet Agents then check a box and uncheck so it thinks a change was made it will then restart all your agents properly without you having to touch anything. That should do the trick.

Re: How come I cannot restart SIM service manually?

Thanks for the tip, but that did not work. I had the mxdomain thingy fail again this week when attempting to push drivers out. The SIM homepage would not launch. I tried stopping the service, doing what you suggested and then restarting the service. Did not work. I had to reboot the server in order for SIM page to load again.

Re: How come I cannot restart SIM service manually?

Starting and stopping the "HP Systems Insight Manager" service in Services doesn't perform all of the steps required. The mxstart and mxstop commands found in %PROGRAMFILES%\HP\Systems Insight Manager\bin should be used for this operation.
