HP SIM & Data Protector
Hello All,
I am running HP SIM & I need to be able to get SNMP traps from data protector working. I have setup ARCServe to send SNMP traps about my backups & they are working a treat.
I see that there is a dataprotector MIB installed by default (like ARCserve) but there seems to be very little in the MIB. All I can see is:
MIB Name: dataprotector.mib
Trap Name: dbtrap
Event Type: General Data Protector Event
Description: A trap with this value identifies Data Protector.
Event handling: Yes
Category: Data Protector Events
Severity: Critical --> I've manually changed this from the default (Informational).
When data protector runs a backup, I've configured it to send an SNMP trap & write an event. The trap is sent & the event is written, but I don't seem to get any alert in HP SIM.
Has anyone configured dataprotector to send traps to HP SIM? Maybe I'm missing something but I can't find it.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Alan.

Re: HP SIM & Data Protector
Configure HP SIM to "accept unregistered traps" and then (after a confirmed trap is sent) look for the trap. You can compare the trap details with the MIB.
