Re: HP System Management Homepage

Ben,
Based on your screenshot it looks like the System Management Homepage is timing out. The latest download for the SMH has a popup to warn you that it is getting a timeout from one of the applications - you might want to try using it. Basically, one of the webapps is taking too long to respond. The two leading candidates for this are either the web agent or the Version Control Agent. In the first case it is almost always caused by a misconfiguration of SNMP. The second case is usually caused by the VCA not being configured to point to a working VCRM or if it is configured some sort of network issue is preventing it from being contacted. Once you fix whatever the misconfiguration is then the SMH will populate as normal.

Re: HP System Management Homepage

Hi Rich,

My database servers Prolitan DL 585, the outher's DL 385. I installed the VCRM but the manegement home page was not responding. When i wrote to my previous message. After my first message I had uninstalled the VCRM. the home page come to normaly and not to give time out. But i aware when i installed the VCRM the VCA clients gives timeout too. I looked for SNMP services to reconfigure but my configuration is true. Hence, I want to ask you that how can i bind up-to-date my server system softwares and drivers.

How can i do that?

Re: HP System Management Homepage

If you want to try the latest System Management Homepage you can download it here:
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/23560.html

The Version Control Repository software should only be installed on a single system - it doesn't need to go on every server. The Version Control Agent is the software that would need to be installed on every server that you want to version control. If you do not want or need to use the Version Control software it does not have to be installed and running. However, if you have the VC Agent software running you need to get it configured to point to a VCRM or you will probably experience the "timeout" problem. This latest SMH component does have timeout checks in it and if it seems them you should get a popup message and even a log entry with the timeouts listed.

Re: HP System Management Homepage

Thanks Rich, I have now managed to fix the problem.
1. Remove all HP agents/utils etc
2. Reboot server
3. Install the PSP
4. Reboot server
5. Configure Agents, from SIM
6. Reboot server (just for luck)

Now just need to sort out the firmware versions :)

Not so much a Server Farm, more a small holding, hence only the recent install of Insight Manager

Cheers

Re: HP System Management Homepage

I had this exact same issue with a DL580 G3. I did the following to fix the issue:

1. Open Computer Management
2. Go to Services
3. Right click the SNMP service and go to properties.
4. Go to the traps tab
5. On the trap you use add the loopback address (127.0.0.1)
6. Go to the security tab
7. If you are only accepting traps from certain IP address add the loopback address in there as well (127.0.0.1)

One I did this, my system type changed from unknown to DL580 G3 and I was able to get into the agents normally without the timeout error message.

Hope that helps.
