HPSIM Home Page - missing items
Anyone seen this before?
We are using HPSIM v4.2 on Windows Server 2003 Std. After logging on to HPSIM some of the items on the home page are missing. The menu bar is missing, the graphics for the 'Search' and 'System Lists' panels are missing, and the legend panel is gone. Also, the broswer status bar shows the script error symbol in the lower left.
If I try to click on any of the links on the home page, the status bar shows the script error symbol and says error on page. Basically nothing works.
HPSIM 4.2 was working fine for several weeks before this happened the first time. I fixed it by installing SP1, but after several weeks the problem showed up again. I fixed it again by installing SP2, but now the problem is back and there are no more service packs ...
Any thoughts ?

Re: HPSIM Home Page - missing items
Try clearing the cache(temporary internet files) from the browser.
Are you observing the problem if you browse from a different system?

Re: HPSIM Home Page - missing items
Hi, thanks for responding.
Unfortunately clearing the browser cache doesn't fix the problem. I have also tried removing and reinstalling all HPSIM components, MSDE, and JRE but still no luck.
The problem occurs when opening the browser on either the SIM server, or from another system. I have tried both IE and Mozilla 1.7 - same problem.
The only helpful information I have found is from Mozilla's javascript console, which indicates errors with the pages MxPortal.jsp, MxPortalInner.jsp, and MxMonitor.jsp. The errors indicate that certain subroutines are not defined (I.E. MxBrowserGetBodyWidth, MXBrowserGetBodyHeight, MxMenuItem, ....)
All of these subroutines are contained in javascript files located in e:\Program Files\HP\Systems Insight Manager\hpwebadmin\webapps\mxhtml\js and do exist on the server, so I'm not sure why they are not being found.

Re: HPSIM Home Page - missing items
try temporarily disabling the version control agent service and then see if the system management homepage comes up. Seems there is a timeout issue happening that is preventing the SMH from coming up. If this works, make sure your VCA is configured properly to the VCRM.
