Greetings,
We just upgraded from IM7 to CIM4.1, did an 'in-place' upgrade, which imported all of the devices from the other sqlserver db, unfortuantly the 'system overview' shows nothing... i ran the bi-weekly data collection and the daily device identification manually, and watching the tasks in the 'all scheduled tasks' area, i could see IPs and hostnames being discovered, but none of them came into the system summery, so I saw some stuff on adding managed nodes, it goes over installing OpenSSH on all these servers, which really isn't practical from a security or a management standpoint, as we have hundreds of proliants running here. Does the OpenSSH stuff really need to be done?? We've always assumed that by smart starting the installs on these proliants, all the management agents would be taken care of...

Solution
OpenSSH is NOT required on managed servers to provide the same functionality as IM7 management. OpenSSH is required on the central management server to provide the equivalent to "Application Launch" that was in IM7. If you do want to use OpenSSH, you can deploy it using a task in hpSIM 4.1 to take advantage of the new distributed task functionality.
Are you saying that you can see devices in the "All Systems" list but that the summary does not have any data? If you don't have anything in the "All Systems" list either, it is possible that your user does not have a system list associated with it yet. Go to Options --> Security --> Users and Authorizations and make sure that the Authorization page has a systems list for your username.
