SIM 5.1 How to change the VCRM on the CMS

All,

We just upgraded from SIM 4.2 to 5.1 and we discovered the VCR is pointing to the wrong server. This is causeing all kinds of issues because the VCA see the CMS as the VCR. The VCR should be on the CMS...how do we go about changing this???

Thanks
Brandy

A bit confused about this.
The VCRM can be installed on the same server as HPSIM or another server. Typically HPSIM will discover VCRMs in the infrastructure.
You then configure the VCRM to point to its repository.

The VCA's however need to point to a particular VCRM. A single VCA could be configured and then those settings replicated.

Also, HPSIM takes a while to discover VCRMs there's a task that does this but I can't recall which one.

Re: SIM 5.1 How to change the VCRM on the CMS

The VCR is installed on our CMS, but the CMS had discovered a VCR that had mistakenly been installed on another server. We removed it off of the server so now it is only installed on the CMS. Although, when we go to the VCR configuration on the server it does not list any servers. I have attached a screen capture. How do I go about forcing the CMS to list the VCR?

Thanks,

That should show your VCRM. It could be a trust issue. Make sure the trust settings are correct on your Sims server.
Open the homepage for that server, and check Settings, Security. I have both SIMS and VCRM running on the same server, and the certificate for the SIMS server needs to be in this trust relationship.

HPSIM should discover all VCRMs around.
As a note, you do need to establish a trust between the HPSIM Server and the SMH on the HPSIM Server, just like for other servers.
SNMP also needs to be set up as if it was a remote server as HPSIM uses the same mechanisms to talk to these agents even though they're on the same host.

Have you reran software polling and a data collection against the sim server?
