W2K3 Ent Edn duplicate entries overwritten
I am currently running SIM 4.2 SP2 with Agent version 7.20.
I am having issues when adding W2K3 Enterprise Edition server into the SIM console. When I add a 2003 Ent Edn server and then try and add another 2003 Ent Edn server the entry overwrites the previous entry in the server view.
The only thing that I notice is perculiar is that the server that replaces the previous entry appears to have several DNS entries
Nslookups appear to resolve ok. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled SIM Agent again without success.
The problem doesnt exist with Std W2K3 only Enterprise Edn servers of with 2 are domain controllers and the other 2 are Exchange 2003 server.
Please advise
Regards
Jason Pitts

Re: W2K3 Ent Edn duplicate entries overwritten
HPSIM makes use of certain parameters to identify a system uniquely. GUID (generated by the Management Agents and has the highest precedence), Hostname etc. are few among those. So make sure that the GUID is not the same and there is no problem in resolving the host name (I mean make sure that the IP adresses that you make use for discovery are not tied up to the same host name by any chance). One easy way to check that out would be to run the following command for both the IP address that you are trying to discover and make sure that you dont get the same result.
mxgethostname -n

Re: W2K3 Ent Edn duplicate entries overwritten
Thanks heaps.
I have deleted the relevant GUID from the registry and restarted the Foundation Agent and all look good.
